An afternoon power outage that affected more than 2,000 customers was the result of a blown fuse, according to Xcel officials.
Xcel Spokesman Wes Reeves said a fuse blew around 3:15 p.m. at a Clovis substation, taking out power to 2,145 central Clovis customers.
The fuse was replaced and power restored 33 minutes later, he said.
Reeves said the cause of the blown fuse is unknown.
“Anything made by human hands has the opportunity to fail at some point,” he said.
