The Clovis News-Journal took five first-place awards and gathered eight total awards in The Associated Press Managing Editor’s contest, as announced by the AP Saturday evening.

Managing Editor Rick White received first-place awards for sports photo, deadline sports writing and headline writing, and took second for page design. The News-Journal staff took first-place awards for deadline reporting and Best Web site, former staff writer Marlena Hartz took a third place in beat reporting and staff writer Kevin Wilson received an honorable mention for sports photo.
