You've seen the warning: "Red flag conditions."

What's it mean?

Karen Takai, a fire information and public affairs officer with the Sandia Ranger District, reports red flag criteria include:

• High temperatures

• Winds at more than 25 mph

• Low humidity (usually below 20 percent)

Or as the National Weather Service defines it: "A combination of dry fuels and weather conditions that support extreme fire danger."
