A Clovis firefighter sprays a burning residence at Grand Avenue and Thornton Street Monday afternoon.
The Clovis Fire Department was able to extinguish a residential fire at Grand Avenue and Thornton Street quickly, according to Clovis Fire Chief Ray Westerman.
Fire fighters were called to the area just after 11:30 a.m., Westerman said.
“They brought under control rather quickly,” he said.
The blaze started in the unoccupied rear area of the residence, which was severely damaged, he said.
The front of the house also suffered damages, Westerman said, though not as bad.
Westerman said he was unsure if anyone was home when the fire began, but there were no known injuries.
