A Clovis man was sentenced Friday to 73 years in prison for sexual acts with two children under the age of 13.
Arnold Armenta, 40, was found guilty of 18 counts of second-degree criminal sexual contact of a minor under the age of 13 and one count of first-degree criminal sexual penetration of a child under the age of 13.
District Attorney Matt Chandler said Armenta previously served prison time for criminal sexual penetration of a minor. Armenta was released in December 2005.
After Armenta’s release, two Clovis girls said he had sexually abused them between December 2005 and January 2006.
Chief Deputy District Attorney Andrea Reeb prosecuted the case for the state. Ninth Judicial District Judge Stephen Quinn presided over the trial and the sentencing. Armenta must serve 85 percent of his time — 62 years — before he is eligible for a parole hearing.
