WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senator Pete Domenici today visited with the mayors of Portales and Clovis in advance of their appearance before the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.

 

Portales Mayor Orlando Ortega Jr. and Clovis Mayor Gayla Brumfield were in Washington to promote legislation (S.2418) to authorize the Ute Reservoir water pipeline, which was introduced by Senator Jeff Bingaman and Domenici.  Ortega testified to the Energy Committee about the need for the pipeline.  During their meeting with Domenici, they leaders also discussed the future of Cannon Air Force Base.
