Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:


Around 8 p.m. April 15 an officer responded to a park in the 2000 block of Mitchell Street for a stolen vehicle report.


A man told the officer he parked his vehicle at the park and left for about half-an-hour and when he returned it was gone.


He said he believes whoever stole it must have been familiar with it because the only way to open it was to pull a string under the fender.


The officer documented the vehicle description.

About 4:30 p.m. Friday an officer responded to a business in the 500 block of Commerce for a larceny report.


A man reported the business had been storing mufflers in the alley and over the past month and someone had been taking them. He said about $100 worth of mufflers had been taken.

Around 5:30 p.m. Friday an officer conducted a traffic stop in the 1800 block of Prince for a vehicle with expired tags.


The driver told the officer he had the vehicle for more than a year but didn’t get new tags or insurance because he hadn’t been pulled over yet.


The officer was given permission to search the vehicle and found open cans of beer. The driver and two passengers received citations for open containers.

About 9:30 p.m. Friday an officer responded to a vehicle crash in the 2000 block of Prince Street.


A woman said she was stopped in traffic when a vehicle crashed into the rear of her vehicle.


The driver and passenger of the other vehicle got out and fled the scene on foot.


The owner of the abandoned vehicle admitted her boyfriend was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash.


Officers got as much identifying information as the woman could provide about her boyfriend, who she said is a Mexican national.


Officers are seeking warrants on careless driving, leaving the scene of a crash and no insurance.
