Music Festival award runner-up
The Clovis Music Festival was the runner-up April 17 for a 2007 Tourism Industry Association Recognition Award, according to a Tourism Association of New Mexico news release.
The festival came in second to Carlsbad’s Christmas on the Pecos in the Outstanding Event category.
High Plains Harley honored
Clovis’ High Plains Harley-Davidson received a bronze Bar & Shield award for 2007, according to store spokeswoman Carla DuBois.
The award is given by Harley-Davidson to stores nationwide based on customer service, sales and other factors reflecting high quality service, DuBois said.
DuBois said it is the first time the store received the award.
Clovis dairy farmer re-elected
Wayne Palla of Clovis was re-elected vice-chairman of the Dairy Farmers of America Audit Committee.
Palla is the chairman of the DFA Southwest Area Council and a National Milk Producers Federation board member.
Palla and his son Eric, own a dairy, beef and farming operation.
Farwell chamber honors residents
The Farwell Chamber of Commerce honored several Farwell residents during its Chamber of Commerce Banquet on April 12 at the Farwell Community Center.
Harold Carpenter received the Man of the Year award and his wife Avis is the Woman of the Year.
Gilbert Kaltwasswer received the Agriculturist of the Year award.
Farwell Band Director Bill Shelly was named Teacher of the Year.
SBA to hold fairness forum
The U.S. Small Business Administration is holding a Fairness Forum for Small Business on May 2 at Central New Mexico Community College in Albuquerque.
Congress has ordered the administration to hold regulatory fairness forums to address regulations of federal agencies, according to an administration news release.
