Recycling gives Christmas trees new life
Published: Thursday, December 27th, 2007
Ornament and tinsel-free Christmas trees left by Dumpsters will be picked up by Clovis’ team of refuse collectors. Trees also can be taken to the landfill on East Brady Street. Either way, the trees will be ground up to make free mulch at the landfill.
“People will use the mulch and it’s better to grind them up then to take up room in the landfill,” said Ramona Frogge, Public Works administrator.
The city has been
recycling Christmas trees for five or six years, according to Frogge.
City residents can call Public Works at 769-2376 to inform staff a tree is waiting in their alley for pick up.
