Taco Bell hopes to reopen after weekend fire
Published: Tuesday, December 4th, 2007
Taco Bell on Prince Street is hoping to reopen today after being closed since Sunday because of a small kitchen fire, according to state and fire officials.
Cleaning crews are working to clean up smoke damage throughout the building, according to William Anderson with the state Environment Department.
“They’re going to call us when they’re ready. Once everything is cleaned and sanitized, then we’ll have the reopen inspection,” he said.
Local management referred calls to Taco Bell’s corporate office for comment.
Clovis Fire Chief Ray Westerman said around 5:30 a.m. Sunday firefighters extinguished a fire in one of the restaurant’s deep fryers.
It was a minor incident, he said, but because it is a food service establishment, further inspection was required.
“Anytime there’s a fire inside a restaurant with food products we like them to go through the state (environmental inspectors),” he said.
