RICHARDSON, Texas — Senior midfielder Keith Vargas headlined seven Eastern New Mexico University soccer players chosen to the All-Southwest Soccer squad, announced this week by the conference office.
Vargas, a four-year player from Rio Rancho, became the second All-SSC first-team choice for the Greyhounds after goalkeeper Leif Craddock made it last season. Craddock, a senior from Amarillo, was one of six second-team choices for the Hounds.
Vargas scored three goals in 2007, including a game-winner in overtime at UT-Permian basin, and had 12 goals and 12 assists for his career. Meantime, Craddock finished a four-year career at ENMU with 17 wins in net.
The others were senior midfielders Ryan Atkinson and Andrew Perez, junior forward Jared Morris, sophomore midfielder Cesareo Contrers and freshman forward Edgar Bear.
ENMU (8-9-1, 2-5-1 SSC), in its fourth season of competition, set school records for wins and goals (45).
