Nov. 6 Police Blotter

Samplings of recent reports filed by Clovis-area law enforcement officers:
Around 1 a.m. Oct. 27 an officer conducted a traffic stop in the 800 block of Thornton Street.
The officer noted the vehicle was swerving and crossed the center line several times. He also noted the smell of alcohol and marijuana on the driver when he made contact with him.
The 16-year-old driver was given field sobriety tests and issued a citation for minor in possession of alcohol, allowing himself to be served and was released to his parents.

About 7 a.m. Oct. 27 an officer responded to a home in the 100 block of Columbia Lane for a report of breaking and entering.
A woman told the officer she saw someone laying on the floor and, thinking it was her daughter, she started a pot of coffee.
The 83-year-old said she nudged the sleeping figure with her walker and a man looked up at her and asked where he was.
She said the man vomited on the floor and left.
The officer got suspect information from the woman.

About 3:30 p.m. Oct. 27 an officer responded to the area of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Purdue Avenue for a vehicle fire.
The officer noted a silver vehicle burning and made contact with its owner.
The woman said it hadn’t been moved all day.
A witness said she saw a man running from the area and police found a lighter near the vehicle.

About 1:30 a.m. Oct. 28 an officer responded to a business in the 400 block of Commerce Way for a criminal damage report.
The business owner said they had detained a man who kicked and broke the store’s windows.
The officer asked the man why he broke the windows and he said he got mad and punched it.
He was arrested.

Around 4 a.m. Oct. 28 an officer responded to a home in the 1000 block of Ninth Street for a report of breaking and entering.
The officer spoke to a woman, who was hiding outside. She said she woke when she heard a window break and found a man who had lived with her in the past in her house.
She said it was the second time that week he had broken in.
The officer arrested the man and found some items of clothing in his pockets, which he returned to the woman.
