Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports: Around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday an officer took a report at the police department of identity theft. A man told the officer he had started receiving past-due notices in the mail and discovered three loans taken out in his name. The man said he did not open the accounts. He provided the officer with paperwork on the loans. ********* About 8 p.m. Tuesday an officer stopped to talk with some individuals in the area of 12th and West streets. When asked for identification, a female in the group gave a false name. The officer told the girl he knew her and knew that was not her name, pulling up a photo of her on the computer, which she said was not her picture. The officer placed her under arrest for concealing identity and for an outstanding warrant from magistrate court. ********* Around 3 p.m. Wednesday an officer responded to a business office in the 2000 block of Thornton Street for a report of embezzlement. A manager explained to the officer an employee had been taking voided money orders and removing the void from the computer system so she could cash them.
