Encanto Garden Club
The Encanto Garden Club held its June meeting in the home of Ruth Burns.
Speaker for the meeting was RoseEllen Dunn who is an expert on xeriscaping and low-watering gardening. She discussed various plants, trees and grasses and outlined the things she has done to her own yard to use native plants, landscaping and pest control to promote the use of less water.
The group took a tour of Dunn’s yard. The front yard features a rain water drainage area resembling a small creek. The side of the home has a seating area. Flat rocks are used to create paths and provide moisture retention.
The July meeting will be in the home of Elsie Dean. Final plans for the flower show at the Curry County Fair will be discussed. For information contact Betty Dunlap at 762-8212 or Jackie Wuest at 762-6955.
