Air Force Senior Airman Richard B. Powell has been named First Term Airman of the Year by the Air Force Sergeant’s Association, Division 16 (Europe), according to a press release from Army & Air Force Hometown News. He is the son of Bobby R. and Deborah L. Powell of Clovis. The airman is a 1998 graduate of Clovis High School. Selection was based on his exemplary duty performance, job knowledge, leadership qualities, significant self-improvement, specific achievements, notable accomplishments, and community service and support. Powell, a computer network systems and cryptography journeyman, is assigned to the 606th Air Control Squadron, Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany. He has served in the military for three years.
