Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports: Around 4 p.m. Tuesday an officer responded to a domestic dispute at a home in the 700 block of West 13th Street. A man told the officer his girlfriend had battered him. The officer noted the man had redness on his side near his ribcage. The woman told the officer they had been wrestling playfully but she had not hit him in a malicious manner. The officer took a written statement from the man. • • • About 5 p.m. Tuesday an officer responded to a residence for a report of larceny. A man told the officer his 16-year-old grandson had been staying with him and behaving increasingly aggressively. The man said he discovered his bedroom had been broken into and a CD player and binoculars had been taken. His grandson ran away when he confronted him, he said. The value of the missing items is estimated around $90. • • 8 Around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday an officer was called to a residence for a juvenile problem. A woman told the officer her 17-year-old daughter had left the house and was not listening to her. The officer noted he had earlier issued the girl, who was intoxicated, a citation for allowing herself to be served alcohol and had released her to her mother. He located the girl walking on 13th Street and she cussed at him and told him if he took her home she would run away. The officer transported the girl to the juvenile detention center for disorderly conduct. • • • About noon Wednesday an officer responded to an alley near the 200 block of Cameo for stolen natural gas services. A gas company worker told the officer he had discovered a meter previously stolen from a company truck hooked up to a home that was not a service subscriber. He said the residents had been stealing gas since February and he had removed the meter and fixed the pipes so they could not reconnect the home. The officer spoke to a neighbor who said she was related to the resident of the home. The woman asked him, “What would you do if you had kids?” The officer was not able to make contact with the resident. n n n Around 2 p.m. Wednesday an officer responded to a call of shoplifting at a beauty supply store on North Prince. The officer met with the manager who said three girls had shoplifted around $100 worth of hairpieces, false eyelashes and fingernail kits. A woman at the store told the officer she had given the girls a ride and they had left the stolen items in her car and taken off. She said she had returned to talk with the manager. The officer recovered the items and discovered the woman had an outstanding warrant. He placed her under arrest. The three girls were not located. • • • About midnight Wednesday an officer responded to a home in the 1,000 block of Connelly for a report of assault. A man told the officer he was at a park on Mitchell Street and a man approached him and asked to use his cell phone. He said he reached into his car to get the phone and when he turned around the man was pointing a gun in his face. He said he jumped in his car and drove away. The officer was unable to locate the suspect. • • • Around midnight Wednesday an officer made a traffic stop at Seventh and Pile streets. While talking with the 20-year-old driver, he noticed a bottle of alcohol behind the driver’s seat. He removed the bottle from the car and noted it was cold to the touch. The youth told him a friend had purchased the malt liquor for him. The officer issued him a citation for illegal possession of alcohol and confiscated the bottle. The alcohol was disposed of. • • • About 9 a.m. Thursday an officer was called to a group home in the 1200 block of Jones for a report of criminal damage. An employee told the officer someone threw rocks through a window the night before. She said a former disgruntled resident was seen in the area before the damage occurred.
