Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports: Around 7:30 a.m. May 30 an officer went to a residence in the 700 block of Sandia to serve a citation for truancy. The officer told a woman she was being given the citation for not ensuring her child attended school and told her to appear in magistrate court. The officer noted attempts to contact the woman several times. ********* About 8 p.m. May 30 an officer responded to the hospital emergency room for a report of battery. A 16-year-old girl told the officer she had been walking home on Seventh Street in front of a lumber store when two females threw rocks at her. She said they approached her and hit her until a stranger stopped and broke up the fight. The case is under investigation. ********* About 10 a.m. Thursday an officer responded to a business in the 600 block of Commerce Way for a report of vandalism. The owner told the officer she had arrived to find the large, double-pane front window broken by a rock. She told him the window was valued around $1,200. ********* Around 10 a.m. Thursday a woman reported a dog bite to animal control officers. She said she was riding her bicycle in the 1100 block of Reid when three dogs came out of nowhere and one bit her in the calf. She was advised to seek medical attention, and the dog was taken to the shelter. ********* Around 7 p.m. Thursday an officer was called to a house in the 200 block of Saturn for a report of larceny. A man said a videotape and pliers were missing after another man he knew came into his house and left. The officer located the man and was given permission to search his vehicle. He did not find the items but told the man not to go back to the house because the resident did not want him there anymore. ********* About 11 p.m. Thursday an officer responded to the alley east of the 1200 block of Connelly for a report of trash container fires. The officer discovered several small trash fires in the trash container. A witness reported seeing three juvenile males around the trash container before the fire was noticed. There was no damage to property, and the fires were extinguished. ********* Around 10 a.m. Friday an officer was called to the area of 600 South Prince for a hit-and- run. A witness said he saw a truck pulling a trailer hit a light pole on the west side of the road and then leave the area. The officer noted the light pole, belonging to the power company, was broken.
