Education Digest: Seniors should consider checklist
Published: Wednesday, December 20th, 2006
College-bound seniors should do three things before Dec. 31, according to a press release from Scott Anderson, an author and expert in college funding.
In his press release, he recommends seniors heading to college should:
1) Remove savings from their name. If that isn’t possible due to IRS regulations, they should shelter the money in a non-assessed type asset.
2) Apply to at least four to six colleges.
3) Gather student and parent financial information and prepare an estimate of their taxes in preparation for federal student financial aid applications.
