Stagner and Sons Inc. obtained building permits from Clovis City Hall, announcing plans for 78 new homes in the north part of Clovis. The homes had a combined value of “over a half million dollars,” according to the “Clovis News-Journal.” ... Dunlap’s at 318 Main was having a “January clearance sale.” Cotton blouses were $1.93 each, artificial flowers went for 50 cents and foam rubber pillows were just $3.99. ... Roy Walker was campaigning for re-election to the Clovis City Commission and offering rides to the polls (the number to call was 9225). He went on to win the District 1 seat, beating out three other candidates. ... Clovis Cab led the Major Bowling League standings, followed by Barry Hardware, Smith Cleaners and House of Color. ... And North Plains Mall General Manager Cindy Banister was born in Clovis.
