The American Red Cross is calling for volunteers. According to a Red Cross news release, the Zia Service Center of the American Red Cross is seeking volunteers from Tucumcari, Clovis and Roosevelt counties. The volunteers are needed to provide relief to victims of disasters, respond to residential fires, hazardous material spills, floods, wild fires, and snowbound and stranded motorists. They also provide Armed Forces Emergency Communication Services to active-duty military personnel. The Red Cross is in need of a disaster action team captain, disaster action team responder and a disaster nurse. All volunteers should demonstrate strong leadership skills, have the ability to multi-task and have access to reliable transportation. To volunteer, contact Angela Williamson at 763-4129. The Mid-Rio Grande Chapter of the American Red Cross has also added two new staff members for the Zia Service Center in Clovis. Nicole Thompson will serve as manager and Angela Williamson, of Portales, will serve as programs and services specialist. Williamson’s duties include providing coordination and planning for volunteer recruitment and maintaining relationships with community agencies.
