Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports: At about 7 p.m. May 26 an officer responded to a call about a child being offered drugs at North Plains Mall. A security guard said a boy reported two males offering him marijuana, and the guard identified two male suspects. The officer found four marijuana cigarettes one suspect had attempted to discard in the parking lot. The men were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. • • • About 3 p.m. May 26 an officer was dispatched regarding items being taken from a burned trailer home in the 300 block of Georgia Street. He met with two men loading pieces of metal in their vehicle and asked if they had permission from the owner. They said they didn’t think anyone would mind if they took the items for scrap. The officer told them to put the items back and leave, then parked down the street and observed one of the men return in a different vehicle and begin to remove metal again. The man was arrested for petty larceny. • • • At about 1 p.m. May 27 an officer responded to a call from a truck stop in the 4700 block of Mabry Drive in reference to a man who said he had been followed from Roswell by people trying to damage his truck. The officer noted the man was animated. The man climbed under the truck to chase the people, and pointed to a reflection of another vehicle on his truck, saying he had spotted one of them. The man said he had not taken any illegal drugs but had taken blood pressure medication. The officer placed the man in protective custody and transported him to Plains Regional Medical Center for screening. • • • At 11:30 p.m. Tuesday an officer called to Plains Regional Medical Center spoke with a stabbing victim who said a person he knew knocked on his door in the 1200 block of Sheldon Street and “went nuts and was jumping around” and when he turned to speak to his mother standing behind him, he was stabbed in the back. His mother said she was in the back of the house and didn’t see anything. She said her son staggered into the house saying he had been stabbed so she drove him to the hospital.
