LAKEWOOD, Colo. — It was not a good day to be a pitcher Wednesday at All-Star Park. In a game featuring a combined 40 hits and 10 doubles, Eastern New Mexico University topped Colorado Christian in a 21-14 shootout. ENMU designated hitter Tyler Brown drove in runs with five hits and also scored three times. First baseman Jeff Roemer also collected five hits. Colorado Christian led 13-12 after six innings, but ENMU scored nine runs in the last three innings to secure the win. Cougars shortstop Jay Beleu had three hits and three RBI. The Greyhounds (18-16) led 4-3 after three innings, then batted around in the fourth inning, scoring seven runs on seven hits. Third basemen Mick Letofsky had two doubles in the inning. ENMU reliever David Swinconos had an extremely tough time in the sixth, giving up six runs and recording only one out, allowing The Cougars (3-23) to take the lead. In the seventh, the Hounds scored three runs on three hits to pull back on top. The Hounds, who had lost 12 of their last 13 games coming into Wednesday, got key innings in relief from Evan Courteau, who went 2 2/3 innings, allowing only one run and picking up the win.
