Ruby M. Faris, 87, of Clovis, died March 29, 2006, at Laurel Ridge Healthcare, Clovis. Born Dec. 8, 1918, in Clovis to Dee Roy and Mae Means Smoot, she grew up in Clovis and graduated from Clovis High School. She worked for the phone company for many years as a telephone operator. She loved oil painting, family members said, and was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Clovis. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Warner D. Smoot. She is survived by two nephews and their wives, Don Smoot (and wife, Shirley) and Tommy Smoot (Cheryl), all of Clovis; a sister-in-law, Mildred Smoot, of Clovis, and several great- and great-great-nieces and great- and great-great-nephews. Pastor J. Vaughn Gossman will officiate. Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home.
