Police find $5,100 stash of cocaine
Clovis Police discovered a stash of cocaine with a street value of roughly $5,100 while executing a search warrant Friday at a residence in the 200 block of Lincoln Avenue, according to a Clovis Police Department press release.
Members of the Clovis Police Special Response Team, Clovis Police Department Gang Unit, and Region V Drug Task Force discovered was a loaded Norinco rifle containing nine rounds of ammunition, approximately 1 1/2 ounces of a white powder substance identified as cocaine, a small amount of marijuana, and other various types of drug paraphernalia commonly used to cook, weigh, store, transport and ingest controlled substances, the press release said.
No arrests were made at the time of the search warrant execution, the press release said.
Police seek suspect in possible theft
A Clovis business owner told police a bag containing an undisclosed amount of checks and money he left on the counter of his Main Street antique shop Friday afternoon was missing.
Around 5 p.m., officers with the Clovis Police Department were dispatched to the Prairie Peddler Antiques at 100 S. Main St. in reference to the possible robbery, the release said.
Upon arrival the officers, were told a Hispanic male had entered the business and had asked to purchase two neckties. When the business owner went to retrieve the ties, the suspect took a moneybag that had been left on the front counter, the release said.
The suspect is described as being about 5-foot-5 and 160 pounds. The suspect was wearing a blue jacket, white ball cap, and gold earrings in both ears, the release said. The victim believed the suspect was in his 30s or 40s. The cash and checks were in a New Mexico Bank and Trust bag.

Clovis man gets jail time for DWI
A 37-year-old Clovis man was sentenced Wednesday to one year in jail for his third conviction of driving while intoxicated, according to a press release from the 9th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
Jerry Montoya was charged in October 2005 with driving while intoxicated, having an open container and driving on a suspended license — all misdemeanors, according to the release.
Montoya was pulled over by police for a broken taillight. He failed a field sobriety test and had a blood alcohol content of .19, over twice the legal limit of .08, the release said.
Montoya will spend 2 1/2 years on probation after he serves his time in jail, the release said.
