Meetings watch

The Clovis City Commission will meet at 5:15 p.m., today, in the North Annex of the Clovis-Carver Public Library. The following will be discussed:
• Commissioners will vote to approve a bid for kitchen and food service equipment for the Civic Center, including dishes, trash containers and buffet tables. Two companies bid: US Food Service ($120,584) and Wassenstrom ($187,355).
•Commissioners will discuss a resolution to ban the use of fireworks in certain areas, and certain types of fireworks.
• The city’s monthly investment report will be discussed.
• Commissioners will vote on installing paper catchers at the landfill to replace broken ones since some residents have complained trash and paper have blown out of the landfill and into neighborhoods. The installation would cost $4,300, to be transferred from excess service truck outlay.
• Commissioners will discuss waiving an $835 fee at Ned Houk Park and providing a stage, generator and bleachers free of charge for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life event, May 4- 6.
• Commissioners will vote on budget changes from December 2005 to March 2006 for the police and fire departments, parks, the zoo, airport, and various other departments and funds.
• Commissioners will vote to abate a “dangerous” building at 300 Hinkle Street, after the owner was notified to secure the building. The building’s opening must be enclosed with plywood.
• Commissioners will vote on a contract modification with Southwest Cheese Co.
