Beta Phi Beta Phi chapter of ESA held their meeting with hostess President Carman Richard. She recited the Opening Ritual. Chaplain Patsy Lorenz read, “God Bless our Native Land” by Abe Lincoln. Secretary Mary Ann Vinson called the roll and read the minutes from the previous meeting. Correspondence was received regarding ESA NM State Council convention to be held April 21-23 in Albuquerque, proposed NMSC by-law changes and a Letter from 50+ Olympics. Treasurer Collene Baldwin read and distributed her report. The philanthropic project for this month was bringing non-perishable food items for the Clovis Food Bank. Ms Vinson publicity, stated that articles were in the Clovis News Journal. And as awards chairman reported that Ms. Lorenz will receive her 20-year service pin in March. The chapter Sweetheart social was held Feb. 11 at which time Ms. Vinson was named the chapter Sweetheart for 2006. Ms. Baldwin, distributed raffle tickets for the ESA NMSC philanthropic fundraiser. They are $5 each or six for $25. First-place wins a $300 MC/Visa gift card, second place $150 gift card and third place $50 gift card. Winners will be drawn at state convention. Ms. Lorenz gave an interesting program on "Women Don't be a Victim!!" A pledge ceremony was then held for Ola Curry. Delta Kappa Gamma Zia chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma met Feb. 27 at the Clovis Carver Library to hear Susan Hughes talk about graphology. Members submitted handwriting samples for her analysis, and were given the results, which were enlightening and entertaining. Hostesses Dorris White, Twyla Wade, Marsha Shade and Modine Parker served sandwiches, veggies, cake and punch at the beginning of the meeting. Cheryl Hinrichs opened the meeting with the Collect. Kristan Stata read the minutes of the previous meeting, and Anna Marie Kolek gave the treasurer’s report. An invitation to the Phi chapter meeting March 9 in Portales was read. The state president, Jeannette Vigil, will attend. The chapter voted to purchase tickets from the state organization for a money-making activity. The next meeting will be March 27 at the library.
