Nell Musick, 93, of Portales, died Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at her home. She was born Nov. 19, 1912, in Inez to Laura and Tom Mullins. A 1930 graduate of Rogers High School, she married Bill Musick on March 14, 1932, in Inez. She and her husband farmed and ranched in Rogers and Dora until he died. In 1965, she moved to Portales to make her home. For several years, she was employed at the Portales Drug Store. She was a member of Third and Kilgore Church of Christ. She enjoyed crocheting and quilting, as well as cooking for her family and doing yard work, family members said. For a number of years, she was a member of the Roosevelt General Hospital Auxiliary. Family members said she prided herself on being very well groomed and immaculately dressed. She was well known for her auburn hair that was always perfectly combed, they said. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, who died June 3, 1963; two brothers, Dooley and Ray Mullins; and a sister, Esther Mullins Troxiler. She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Musick (and wife Mozelle) of Rogers and Leon Musick (Denise) of Dora; grandchildren Danny Mike Musick of Las Cruces, Gregory Lewis Musick of Seattle, Billy Frank Musick of Amarillo, Trina Marcell Morris (and Mike) of Clovis and Vicki Micheal Musick of Portales; two sisters, Polly Vistalli of Roseville, Calif., and Wilma Ferrell (Jake) of Portales, and several nieces and nephews. Scott P. Reeves will officiate. Graveside services will be held. Pablo Pena, Jimmy Neal Richards, Chuck Neece, Bobby Gresham, Greg Musick and Billy Musick will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Virginia Pena, Erma Pennington, Jimmy Mullin, Darrell Mullins, James Farrell, Danny Musick, Don Mosher, Bill Evans and Vista Care Hospice workers. Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.
