Ruby Lee (Lain) Fowler, 80, of Clovis, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, at her home in Clovis. She was born on May 24, 1924, in Lockney, Texas, to Jack and Minnie Lain. She married Gerald Fowler in Raton on Dec. 24, 1945. She worked for Meals on Wheels and the Crisis Center. She was a member of the Eastern Star Melrose Chapter No. 30 where she served as the chapter’s worthy matron. She was also a past matron of the Clovis Chapter of Eastern Star. She was an avid supporter of her children’s school sporting activities. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Clint, Ansel, and Joe Lain; and a son-in-law, Anthony Franco. Survivors include a son, Harold Fowler (and wife, Elena) of Rio Clara, Brazil; three daughters, Judith Sharp (Ralph) of Tucson, Ariz., Doris Franco of Albuquerque and Dorothy Hazen (Richard) of Roy; seven grandchildren, Aileen and Henrique Zanin, Hayden and Jennifer Fowler, Jody and Roberta Stacey, and Kyle and Kayla Hazen; and two sisters-in-law, Alice and Vera Lain. The Rev. Wayne Salguero will officiate the services. Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis. Pallbearers are Eastern Star and Masonic members. Honorary pallbearers are Ribble Holloman and her grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church’s new building fund. Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.
