Silent majority will rise to the occasion Dean Young says the reason he put the pornographic devil stickers on his car was to protest his inability to buy beer on Sunday and because he wants to offend the church people. What has happened to common sense? I know of many stores not open on Sundays. Shall we put pornographic material on our vehicles and call the ACLU until these stores open on Sundays because we think they should? Many laws we have in the United States are taken directly from the biblical book of Deuteronomy and the Ten Commandments. Our founding fathers set it up this way so we could live in harmony among ourselves. We all complain that crime in Clovis is on the rise and harsher crimes are being committed. I wonder why? Could it be that we reap what we sow? If we continue to do what we are doing, we will continue to get what we are getting. End of story! There are laws set up to legally protest anything you want to, but it needs to be done the correct way. The fact is, in this country majority rules. If you cannot abide by the way the majority rules, then it’s time to change living places. If you don’t like how the majority rules, then move. There are many places in this country where people probably don’t think the sticker should be displayed but simply aren’t willing to fight for what is right. I think you will find the opposite here in Clovis. I think the majority who live in Clovis will stand up for the right thing. As for the threat of the ACLU and the removal of the Ten Commandments from the courthouse lawn, it is a symbol of what the majority here believes. Just as in the recent presidential election, majority will rule in this event also. And once again you will see the silent majority become no longer silent and rise to the occasion. — Donald K. Reid Clovis Clovis man has right to display sticker I for one believe this guy (Young) has every right to display any sticker he would like on his vehicle. I recently read a news story from Salem, Ore., in which the American Nazi Party joined the “Adopt-A-Road” program and was granted posting of several signs down the stretch of highway it is cleaning. The Marion County officials will not act against the Nazi group despite a large public outcry against these signs because of their First Amendment rights. If a group with such a violent background and past is able to post up signs regardless of what they stand for, then by God this man should be able to show off that damn sticker. — Steve L.
