Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:
A four-vehicle crash about 5 p.m. Friday on the corner of Norris Street and Fairfield Avenue sent two people to Plains Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Police reported a 74-year-old Clovis man had been southbound on Norris in a 1995 Chevy Suburban when traffic ahead stopped suddenly and he was unable to avoid hitting the rear of a 2001 Pontiac when it pulled into oncoming traffic. The impact forced the Pontiac into the northbound lanes where it struck a 1992 Lincoln. The Lincoln subsequently struck a 1998 Honda.
The SUV and Honda received slight damage; the Pontiac and Lincoln received moderate damage, both had to be towed from the scene, and their drivers sought medical treatment. The SUV driver was cited for following too closely.

About 10 p.m. Friday, police received a call from a gas station clerk who suspected her store had been targeted for a robbery.
The clerk said she had observed a truck pulling up to the gas station and parking in a position near the ice machine that concealed it from observers. Three men exited the truck, put on black ski masks, and shouted “Hey look! Get in the truck!” after they noticed her watching them. The truck then sped off at a high rate of speed.

On Thursday, a junior high assistant principal called police to report that a student had been cut or stabbed by another student on Sept. 30.
The 14-year-old female victim said she had been assaulted by another 14-year-old student in the hallway who shook her hard and forced something into her right side. A later check of the site showed a red line along her right side and while cleaning it the student pulled a piece of pencil lead from the cut. The incident was reported to police after the school nurse examined the site and said it “looked pretty bad.”
Police reported they would obtain a warrant for the assaulting student’s arrest.
