Freedom board begins to decide fate of company
Published: Wednesday, October 1st, 2003
IRVINE, Calif. — The board of Freedom
Communications Inc. met all day Wednesday to discuss bids from potential buyers but did not decide what to recommend to the shareholders for a vote, the company said in a statement.
Irvine, California-based Freedom, parent of the Clovis News Journal, said the board told its investment bankers and a “special committee” of directors to “explore which of these proposals may be developed to the point at which it would be appropriate to submit one or more of them to the shareholders.”
The board will meet again to consider the committee’s recommendations, however Freedom spokeswoman Stephanie Miclot said no date for that meeting had been released.
