Elsie Eldridge Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Steed-Todd Chapel in Clovis. Ms. Elsie Eldridge, 86, of Lubbock, a homemaker, died Sunday, July 27, 2003, at Heritage Oaks Nursing Home in Lubbock. She was born on March 2, 1917, in Melrose to J.C. and Sarah Cooper Stone. She was raised in Melrose. She married James Eldridge in 1935. Family members said she was gifted in arts and crafts made from tin cans. She was a seamstress, making clothes using patterns from her memory. She was a member of the Prince Street Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her siblings. She is survived by two daughters, Linda Robertson (and husband Lynn) of Lubbock and Alma Faye Bewley (and husband Jim) of Omaha, Neb.; a sister, Pearle Firestone of Rotan, Texas; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Visitation is scheduled from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Steed-Todd Funeral Home in Clovis. The Rev. Wayne Boydstun will officiate the services. Burial will be at Melrose Cemetery. Pallbearers will be James R. and Mile H. Bewley, Vince and Stephen Orr, Jonathan Snyder and Randy D. Robertson. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Mexico Baptist Children’s Home in Portales. Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.
