ALAMOGORDO — Junior Richie Chavez broke the school record in shot put with a winning thorw of 58 feet, and accounted for a pair of event wins to help Clovis High’s boys finish second Friday night at Alamogordo.

Rio Rancho scored 106 1/2 points to cruise to first, followed by the Wildcats at 78.

In girls action, Antiesha Brown won the triple and long jump competition, and Clovis placed either first or second in all four relays to finish second behind Rio Rancho. The Lady Wildcats scored 73 points, well behind the Rams at 128.

Other event winners for Clovis were Meagan Baglien in discus and Izzy Miranda in the 3,200.
