The Portales boys golf team finished second Tuesday in Roswell, and picked up a qualifying leg with a team score of 312.
“We shot pretty well,” Portales coach Andy Correll said, noting that the team needed to shoot 330 or better for a leg. Goddard shot 309 for the team victory.
Donavin Sanchez shot a 34 on the back nine to take the medalist title with a score of 72. Tristan Cottrell was next for Portales with a 78, followed by Will Archibeque (80), Rick Bergman (82) and Dennis Short (93).
The girls finished with a team score of 421. Tylar Rowley shot 100 to lead Portales, and was joined by Amber McCasland (104), Paige Hartman (108), Kelsey Prince (109) and Gabby Espinoza (110).
Portales is back in action Monday at the Leroy Gooch Invitational in Roswell.
