Things to watch for: Portales coach Clay Stout said Ruidoso loves to play an up-tempo game and run the lanes hard. They like to pressure on defense. He said Ruidoso is experienced, with several three-year players. He said Portales needs to put more scoring stretches together.

Portales (11-7, 2-0 District 4-3A) at Lovington (8-9, 2-0)

How they got here: Portales has won back-to-back games, including a 63-30 at Ruidoso on Friday. Lovington beat NMMI 52-42 Friday and has won three straight.
Last meeting: Portales beat Lovington 47-44 in last year’s district tournament championship.
Notes: Portales coach Mark Gallegos said a different player has stepped up every night. Junior forward Marcus Slocum is leading the team in scoring.
Things to watch for: Gallegos said Lovington is young, but has talented players. Portales will be looking to stop Robert Hargrove, a sophomore guard.
