Of note: Texico is ranked No. 3 in Class 2A, but is the two-time defending state champion. The Lady Panthers, meantime, are ranked sixth. … The teams haven’t played each other this season.
How they got here: The Lady Wolverines beat Clayton 3-1 in the District 6-2A tournament championship game. Jal finished second to Eunice in the District 7-2A tournament, losing at home in the finals to Eunice in five games. The Lady Panthers are led by 5-10 sophomore MH Shelby Kimball and 5-9 freshman OH Daisi Navarrette.

Class 1A
Floyd (10-9) at Clovis Christian (14-10)
When: 6 p.m. today
Of note: The Lady Broncos swept Clovis Christian twice this season, on Sept. 5 at Floyd and two weeks later at CCS. … The Lady Eagles had to forfeit two wins because of overscheduling, causing them to finish second in District 4-1A during the regular season. They came back to beat Logan in the semifinals in the district tournament, then took the tourney title the following night with a 3-1 win at top-seeded Grady.
How they got here: Floyd, led by 5-8 senior OH Kelsi Gray and 5-8 junior MH Madeline Love, finished second in the District 3-1A tournament, losing in three games to Fort Sumner in the finals. The Lady Eagles beat Logan in the District 4-1A tourney semifinals, then won at Grady 3-1 in the title match.

Class 1A
Grady (12-6) at Fort Sumner (19-1)
When: 6 p.m. today
Of note: Fort Sumner has been the No. 1-ranked team all season in Class 1A. … The Vixens last won the 1A championship in 2006. They lost in the state semifinals to Elida last season. … Fort Sumner beat Grady in three on Sept. 2 at Fort Sumner. … The Vixens came into the 2008 season with exactly the same roster they had last year.
How they got here: The Lady Bronchos lost to Clovis Christian in four in the District 4-1A tourney finals last week. Fort Sumner swept Floyd to take the District 3-1A title.
