Sen. Stuart Ingle, R-Portales, announced Monday he will seek re-election to his District 27 seat, which includes all of Roosevelt and De Baca counties and portions of Curry, Chaves and Lea counties.

Ingle, a farmer and rancher in Portales, has served in the senate since 1985 and has been senate minority leader since 2000.

The Clovis-born Ingle attended New Mexico Military Institute and Oklahoma State University, graduating from the latter with a degree in animal science and nutrition.

No other candidate has announced intention to run for the seat.
