I would like to thank the city of Clovis for the new plans for the Municipal Golf Course space.

Keeping the par-3 course open will provide opportunities for youth programs, academic programs through Clovis Community College, and an alternative to the 18-hole course for golfers.

I am especially, excited, however, about the majority of the old golf course being opened up for walking and running.

For the first time in the 20 years that I have run in Clovis, there is now an off-pavement place to run with no dogs and no cars. I have been chased by big dogs, little dogs, mean dogs and playful dogs from all parts of Clovis. Now I don’t even have to think about them. I see them playing in the dog park as I run by.

The trees, grass, and even those crazy geese have created a real park-like atmosphere that has rejuvenated my running and eased the daily shock to my 47-year-old legs.

Thank you!

Jan Elliott capable of problem solving

For more than 20 years, Jan Elliott has been an integral part of the local Emergency Medical Services team and has distinguished herself as being its executive director for the past 16 years.

Jan has proven herself capable of identifying problems and evoking solutions.

Furthermore, she relates extremely well to the elderly, the reason being perhaps due to the fact that she was raised by her grandparents.

We feel deserving of better representation in District 1 and we ask others to join us in electing Jan Elliott to do so.

Will Banister quality entertainer

If you missed the Will Banister Off 2 England Concert last week, you missed an awesome evening of music and fun.

Will Banister has an extraordinary voice, and musical talent to match. Johnny and Jill Mulhair, Duane Castleberry, Paul Goad, and Gary Beevers are also exceptional musicians, and Dave Nash was an excellent announcer.

When Will and others in the band acknowledged God as the one who gave them talent and opportunity, it brought tears to my eyes. How blessed we are to have quality people like these representing our city when they perform at Wembley Arena in London, England, later this month.

May God grant them a safe journey, and a successful performance.
