The Clovis MainStreet board met Tuesday and discussed the following:
• Train renovation update by Phil Williams, owner of the Clovis Depot Model Train Museum, and CATS.
Williams said the funding process for the renovation of the former Hillcrest Park train and landscaping of the model train museum should take place by March. He said Gov. Susana Martinez will visit Clovis to kick off the train renovation. He said approximately $1,500 is needed to start the renovation.
• Pile Street project update by Jim Sitterly, owner of Curry County Abstract and Title Co.
Sitterly said the renovation of the First Community Bank on Pile Street will create 16 offices, conference rooms, a training center and secured storage. He said the building will contain multiple virtual offices. He said the business complex leases will be between two to five years.
• Jail addition project by Paul Reed, owner of Paul C. Reed Architectural firm. According to Reed, three locations are being considered for the Curry County Adult Detention Center pod addition: The area north of the jail, the area south of the jail or the alley across the street. He said the new design will be ready for approval within 30 days. A special election will be held April 3 to approve a $9.3 million bond issue to pay for the expansion and improvment of the detention center, according to the Curry County Commission.
• Also, the board said it has three open positions for members.
