Chaparral Extension Club

The Chaparral Extension Club met April 9 at Trinity Luthern Church with 11 members present.

Sheryl Abdill called the meeting to order. Judy Ramirez read “Joy of Life”. June Phillips read the minutes and thank you notes from the San Angelo Christian Academy and Betty Jackson for the memorial gift. Dorothy Bean gave the treasurers report.

Members signed a thank you note for the Nite Owls Club for the tea they  hosted for the Chaparral Club and the bowling pin bunnies each one was given.

Plans for the International tasting and crafts for the club display were finalized.

Hostesses Sylvia Gonzales and Misti Everett decorated the room for Easter and served Mexican stackup.

Clovis Quilters

The Clovis Quilter’s met April 13 at Trinity Luthern Church with 18 members present. Brenda Harpold called the meeting to order.

Elizabeth Lawrence talked about the Llano Estacado Quilt Guild meeting on April 25.

Gail Srickler has received six lap robes for hospice and three baby quilts for the Hartley House.

Reports were given on the Ogallala Quilt Festival, with the Clovis winners being recognized. Those teaching classes and taking classes gave reports.

Jeanetta Mesner had the block of the month.

Brenda presented the program on making a multi purpose hot pad, apron, carrier.

Amy Armenta gave the instructions for the next step in the mystery quilt.

Beth showed how to hand piece for the technique.

The next meeting will be on May 11.

Curry County Extension Clubs

The Curry County Extension Clubs held their annual International Tasting   April 13 at the extension building with 41 members and 12 guest attending.

The Grady Alpha Club chose America as the country with Carol Nash as mistress of ceremonies. Katy Mackechnie gave the invocation followed by the Pledge of the Allegiance and the singing of the national anthem.

The program was presented by the winners of the Daughters of the American Revolution History Essay Contest, with Jaren Piepkorn 5 grader of Clovis, Katie Bickley 7 grader of Pep, Haley Powell 8 grader of Elida, and Aarti Attreya Senior of Clovis reading their essays.

Following the meal the group sang patriotic songs and Suzy Powell read a poem written by fellow club member Margaret Borden.

Clubs had tables set up with craft items made by members. Home at heart Club decorated with a patriotic theme.
