DEXTER — Senior running back Mario Posada scored three touchdowns and Texico held on to beat Dexter 28-26 in Saturday's Class 2A state semifinal.
Posada's 35-yard run late in the fourth quarter put Texico up 28-20.
Dexter responded with a long touchdown drive, with senior quarterback Timothy Regalado scoring from two yards out with 16 seconds to go. But Regalado's 2-point conversion pass to tie the game sailed out of the back of the end zone.
Posada's 12-yard TD pass from Brett Anderson early in the fourth quarter put Texico (12-0) up for good in the battle of unbeaten teams.
Dexter (11-1) lead 14-7 at halftime.
