Douglas James Anderson, 51, of Lubbock died Saturday, June 24, 2006, at a local hospital. Born Oct. 19, 1954, to Raymond and Midge (Hendriks) Anderson in Des Moines, Iowa, where he was raised, he entered the U.S. Air Force in 1973 after graduation. He spent the next 20 years serving his country, and was an F-16 aircraft mechanic, reaching the rank of technical sergeant. He retired in 1993 and moved to Colorado Springs, Colo., and then to Lubbock. He worked as a business manager for Aslan (J&J) Orthotics of Lubbock for seven years, then began working for the Lubbock Cotton Kings as business manager and became assistant general manager six months ago. He enjoyed the Youth Hockey League and served on its board of directors, family members said. He loved to play with his dog, Powder, liked to watch old movies, enjoyed eating Dairy Queen brownie sundaes and was always near M&M’s, according to his family. He was preceded in death by his niece, Cindy Anderson, and father-in-law, Emery Kirk. He is survived by his wife, Tammy Anderson, and children Travis and Trevor Anderson, all of Lubbock; his parents, Raymond and Midge Anderson of Des Moines; brothers, Tom Anderson (and wife, Diane) of Des Moines and Scott Anderson (Mitzie) of Dell City, Iowa; sisters, Carol Crum (John) of Kansas City, Mo., and Jan Jansen (John) of West Des Moines, Iowa; sister-in-law, Sandy Burris (Don) and mother-in-law, Dottie Kirk, all of Lubbock; six nieces and four nephews. Family will receive friends at 3 p.m. (CDT) Wednesday at Resthaven Funeral Home, Lubbock. Chaplain Doug Holcomb will officiate services. Full military honors will take place Friday at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kan. Arrangements are by Resthaven Funeral Home, Lubbock.
