Raymond Curtiss Minyard, 77, of Clovis, died Wednesday, June 28, 2006, at his home in Clovis. He was born Aug. 31, 1928, to Homer E. and Dollie Thurman Minyard in Holliday, Texas. In 1953, he married Mary Margaret Minyard in Newburg, N.Y. He served 28 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1974 at the rank of senior master sergeant. He was a president of the NCO Club in Newfoundland and Retired Military Association. He was the Fast Pitch pitcher at Stewart Air Force Base in Newfoundland, Minot, N.D., Great Falls, Mont., Taiwan, and Cannon Air Force Base, family members said. They said he was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, H.E. Minyard and Truman Minyard; and one sister, Dorothy Jones. Survivors include his wife, of Clovis; three sons, Raymond “Curt” Minyard (and wife, Katie) of Buffalo, N.Y., the Rev. Wayne A. Minyard (Jayme) of San Diego, Calif., and Sgt. James A. Minyard (Faith) of Clovis; four daughters, Jane Koepplinger (Thomas) of Gilbert, Ariz., June Pine of Clovis, Janet Minyard of Tulsa, Okla., and Judith Masterson of Houston; two sisters, Janet Ehni of Dallas and Rosalie Wise of Grandview, Mo.; two special friends, Annette Sandberg of Albuquerque and Ted Calabrese of Clovis; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. The Rev. Wayne A. Minyard will officiate services. Cremation will take place after services. Burial will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe. Full Military Honors will be presented by Cannon Air Force Base Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to Plains Regional Hospice - Home Health, 2217 Dillon St., Clovis, NM 88101.
