Billie Cook, 82, of Amarillo, died Friday, April 28, 2006. Born Sept. 24, 1923, in Hall County, Texas, to James and Jewel Gowdy, she was a realtor in Clovis for 39 years. After moving to Amarillo, she enjoyed activities with her friends and her church, Paramount Baptist Church, according to family members. They said she was a kind and loving person who helped many people throughout her lifetime, and was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a wonderful cook. She was preceded in death by her husband, B.A. Cook; her parents, and a brother, Morris Gowdy. She is survived by two daughters, Lucy Livingston of Enterprise, Ala., and Mary Katheren Arrington of Sweetwater, Texas; two brothers, Ron Gowdy of Amarillo and Ernest Gowdy of Bronte, Texas; one sister, Ima Ruth Hancock of Memphis, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Tucker Livingston, Billie Ruth Baker and Katheren Fowler, and five great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Ranson, Braxton, Caleb and Lucas. Memorials may be made to the Paramount Baptist Church Building Fund, 3801 S. Western, Amarillo, TX 79109. Gil Lain will officiate services. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, Amarillo.
