The Clovis City Commission will meet 5:15 p.m. Thursday at the North Annex of the Clovis-Carver Public Library.

Agenda items include:

• An introduction of an ordinance to close Eighth Street between Main and Mitchell Streets, and the alley of the Curry County Adult Detention Center. The item was approved by both the city’s Public Works Committee and the Planning and Zoning Commission.

Curry County officials making the request have concerns about security when transporting prisoners between the jail and the Curry County Courthouse. The closure will allow access by utility providers.

• A request by EPCOR Water for an easement in the northwest corner of city property northwest of the Clovis Civic Center. The city’s water provider intends to build a supplemental well.

• A bid for road improvements on Norris Street between Llano Estacado Boulevard and Wilhite Road. The bid from K. Barnett and Sons, including gross receipts taxes, is about $4.277 million.

The bid calls for 270 days to substantially complete the project and an additional 30 to finalize the project. An additional agenda item calls for $46,400 for construction inspection services by Lydick Engineers and Surveyors.

• A request to hold a 5K/10K fundraiser race 7 a.m. April 13 at Ned Houk Park by the High Plains chapter of National Contract Management Association.
