CHS squads fifth, sixth in state swimming

Clovis High senior Everett Ward earned the school’s first event state title in swimming on Saturday in Albuquerque, placing first in the 100 backstoke in a time of 51.86 seconds to break his own school record in the event, set in Friday’s prelims. Ward also finished fourth in the 200 freestyle and helped the Wildcats’ 400 and 200 freestyle relays finish second and third, respectively, all breaking school marks set a day earlier.
