Two juveniles were suspected of burglarizing a Clovis home on Thursday morning. But when a neighbor noticed one of the unwelcome guests, she confronted him and then “was startled” and fired a gun in his direction when she felt “in danger,” police said.
No injuries were reported but two juveniles were arrested, according to a Clovis police news release.
Dispatchers received calls around 7:15 a.m. Thursday reporting gunshots in the 1300 block of Arciniega Street. A caller told police a male was seen running north alongside Goodwin Lake Trails.
The release stated a second male left in a pickup truck, and that a female witness confronted him and fired shots as he drove and “placed her life in danger.”
The woman, whom police did not identify, declined to comment on Thursday.
Police said the pickup was stolen from Tucumcari.
Soon after the incident, police received a call reporting a Ford pickup truck was parked behind a home on Lexington Street with a bullet hole on the driver’s side.
About two hours later, according to the release, two juveniles who fit the description from witnesses were found in the 1100 block of Concord, and witnesses confirmed their identities.
Sgt. Daron Roach said both suspects would be facing multiple charges. As of Thursday afternoon, they were still in police custody.
Police did not release their names because of their juvenile status.
The release did not say whether anything was taken from the home.
